The Patient Is Now Terminal:
Let's Let It Die In Peace:
General Motors is a dying company, and no
sum of money is going to keep it alive. The
company's union obligations are so large, and
are growing so steadily, that it cannot ever
pull out of its downward trend.... and what in
God's name had GM's managers deciding five
and six years ago to throw their lot in with
gas-guzzling SUVs and trucks?
The game is over; the stock market knows
that. 'tis better now to say final rites and
let GM die as painlessly as possible. Keeping
it on economic life support is heartless and
it is cruel.
